FRIENDS OF REDCAR’S SOUTH GARE and MAJUBA BEACH SEPTEMBER 2020 EVENTS

Litter Picking with Purpose.

During the first three Sundays of September (6th, 13th, 20th) please join me with the Friends of Redcar (FRED) to focus on community activities, environmental action, physical and mental health, education and some incredible views from our coastline.

Year on year we are joined by hundreds of Redcar and Cleveland residents and visitors from all over the North East to take part in our efforts to look after and love our home by taking positive action against waste materials on our sea front. We will be holding social distancing clean ups, litter picks, a nurdle hunt and walks around the South Gare up to Majuba on these three dates.

Our events can be found on our fb page: https://www.facebook.com/FriendsOfRedcar and more details and links to each separate event can be found below. Thank you.

PLEASE NOTE: Not all of the events are suitable for children or if you have a health condition as some activities are more robust than the average litter pick. Please read the details before signing up to attend. We will adhere to social distancing rules so please help us by observing your own personal and family’s space. Please bring gloves and sanitizers and we’ll take care of the rest. Thank you.

What are nurdles? These are microplastics which are now found on almost every beach across the world. Nurdles are small plastic pellets the size of a small bracelet bead. Countless billion are used each year to make nearly all our plastic products but many end up washing up on our shores. With little effort we will find these on Redcar beach. Bring your children for an education they will never forget.

PLEASE NOTE: Parents must remain with their children throughout the event. Please wear sensible footwear and clothing and check the weather forecast prior to arrival.

We look forward to seeing you there and if it’s your first time you won’t regret it. Redcar is blessed with an amazing coastline and a fantastic community spirit. I guarantee you will be inspired and will want to come back for more!
